The Metaverse, Web3, and the Future of the Photoverse
The concept of NFTs is a hard one to grasp at first, but when you start to think about the ever more digitally integrated future, the place of NFTs starts to make more and more sense.
The future of photography and digital visuals is an increasingly exciting one with the rise of the metaverse, web3, and new ways of interacting with captured moments in time. As more people spend increasing time in a full and hybrid digital world, I believe there will be a need and desire to display digital artwork in that new digital space.
That’s where NFTs will come into use to collect, enjoy, and display one’s favorite pieces. I have a few upcoming projects that will embrace the use of NFTs and have begun launching collections as a foundation for these projects.
The Baltimore Collection
This collection will feature photographs of series in and around Baltimore, including the Baltimore Harbor Walk, Patterson Park, and Baltimore Icons photo series. These NFTs will be available on the OpenSea platform, with new ones released weekly.
What is an NFT?
To put it simply, a NFT or a Non-fungible Token, is an item that has been coded into blockchain technology so there can be trackable ownership of the item. I recommend doing your own research on what a NFT is as the concept can be difficult to comprehend at first, but once you get it, you can see all the new opportunities they create.
